SETTING A CIRCLE INTO A BACKGROUND

that was having difficulty setting a Mariner's Compass into a background. I remembered a quilt I had made a couple of years ago.

Cut a circle out of the background, 1" smaller than the circle you want to set into it. Mark the quarters of both and match up. Pin well around the circle and machine stitch. I sewed with the BG fabric on top. I have a WIP of another one that I started somewhere. I will try to find it and post a picture.

About a month ago, our home was struck by lightening. Charlie and I were not at home, but Happy was. She was locked in the laundry room, right under were the roof was hit. I am sure it was traumatic for her. Neighbors tell me the noise was horrendous. She is fine and still adorably rotten.

I finally found someone to check out my 2 Berninas, 200E and 240. ( Since Charlie is now quilting we need 2 machines plugged in. I am not complaining, it's fun to share a hobby you love.) The machines are fried.

Yesterday, I bought the Baby Lock Elegante 2. I was afraid to get a Bernina, there are no dealers close by anymore. They took the dealerships away.
What a shame...I think I have every foot available, including the expensive binding feet. I must due a complete inventory of the feet for insurance purposes. Did you all take into account your machines and their parts for your insurance policies? I know if this had been worse, (God forbid) and the house went bye-bye, I would not have been covered. Check with your agent and make sure you are covered.

We also lost computers and TV's. It is quite amazing how lightening hits. We have the most amazing picture on one TV set, but the sound card was hit. If anybody knows of a deaf person, let me know. The TV is not 6 months old, it just doesn't have a voice.

I am sorry I have not posted a picture of my gift from Minick and Simpson, but my daughter "borrowed" my camera. I will get it back on Monday and will try to remember to post it. The square looks grand. It's a string spiderweb.

Well, I have run, out of breath and it's time to go to sleep...see you all later.

My winning package of "scraps" from Minick and Simpson arrived. They are beautiful! I started a spider-string quilt following instructions from Quilt-it. SHOPPING LATE AT NIGHT

I am doing the INKLINGO SAMPLER and as you know enjoying it thoroughly. To that end.....

Last night around 10 PM, I dragged Charlie to Barnes and Noble to look at books with traditional blocks. I found a few. I bought the Civil War Diary Quilt. My children are now living in Columbia, South Carolina, and some of the diaries were from there. The book can be totally made with INKLINGO!

I think Sarah and Rebecca will enjoy the book. They love walking around their town and looking at historic sites, now they will have more to research. They also love sewing with Grandma...could I ask for more?

INKLINGO BLOCK #4

This is the forth week of doing the sampler and I must say I am thoroughly enjoying it. This one was a bit of a problem, not the INKLINGO, but the fabric. I found that it shredded a bit while sewing. These are all quilt shop quality fabrics, but some of them have a looser weave with thicker threads. I just got up to check...it's a Moda Fabric that I bought as a bundle of FQ's. I love the fabrics, so I guess I will just have to take more care and not do it in a block that has 2" HST's

Spent yesterday destroying 2 printers printing out 25 sets of 5 of the FREE Lemoyne Star INKLINGO. Have 1 set left to do before I can send it off to Cathi for the swap. Charlie fixed the printers. It seems you really should trim off the threads...LOL
Went for dinner with friends, then watched a Clive Owens movie from Netflix.
Yesterday is over.
Set alarm clock so I would be able to say goodbye, have a great summer, to Bex and Sarah and Jackie. Jackie takes off from her real job and works at the camp. I then went back to sleep.

July 1
Flight from Hell. Sat in Ft. Lauderdale Airport for 6 hours waiting to take an hour and 20 minute flight...another 2 hours and I could have driven...LOL!
My son-in-law, David, picked me up after midnight. By the time we drove to his house it was around 1 AM. We were suppose to have dinner at 6:15. Maybe we will have breakfast this morning at 6:15.
July 2 and 3
Spent the day at the pool with Rebecca and Jackie
July 4 and 5
Went to Myrtle Beach and had a wonderful time with Rebecca and Jackie.
David and Sarah went to Boone, NC. Rock climbing, hicking, and white water rafting.
Had dinner in the hotel resturant on the ocean and we were treated to a wonderful fireworks display.
Sleep, breakfast and back to the beach. All in all a wonderful time.
July 6 and 7
At home Charlie took my daughter Michele for a Birthday dinner and to the movies.
Back in SC, Rebecca, Sarah and I went out for lunch, did a little shopping and bought supplies to craft for the next 2 days. We also celebrated David's and Sarah's birthdays and Rebecca's UN-birthday.
July 8
We finished up the crafts and lounged around waiting for Jackie to take me out to dinner and to the airport. Twenty minutes later we were boarding and airborne.
Charlie looks wonderful and it is great to be home.

PACKING...YUCK

Packing might be the worst thing in the world. The airline wanted to charge $30.00 a bag IN EACH DIRECTION, on a $18.00 flight. What's wrong with this picture???
All of our luggage is heavy without anything in it, and travelling alone I need something I can lift. So off we went to Macy's where they were almost paying you to take it out of the store...LOL. I got 2 pieces, small rolling duffle and a large tote. Both of these items, together, are lighter than any one piece in the closet. All in all I paid $100.oo plus tax for $500.00 worth.
Now the fun part...Although I live in Florida, I don't have a bathing suit.
I tried on many, either they were too long, too short, too tight or too big, and all the same size. I walked away with nada. Found a 10 year old suit from when I lived on the beach, a little "snug" (much nicer than tight) but it will do. So now I am ready for the trip. Whatever I don't have I can do without.

Well, it seems my travelling is not done for the summer. I got the "grandmother" call. I leave Wednesday for Columbia, SC. Jackie, Rebecca and I will be going to the beach, staying at a hotel and having manicures and pedicures. These are Rebecca's requests. What's a grandmother to do...LOL
The weather in sunny South Florida has been anything but, rain and thunder every day. Bex (Rebecca's nick name) said it is beautiful in SC.

Here it is 3:10 in the afternoon and all I accomplished was going to a Weight Watchers meeting. Let's hear it for 2 pounds down. Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!!

I am now going to finish a Basketcase block that I started in New York. NOT getting up until I finish, yah right . Will post when I am done.

There really is nothing else to do today, it's has been raining all day. We really need it down here, Okeechobee is way down.
